Giving.
Silent is my prayer, undesired is my desire, and unquestioned is my question. It’s me, it’s my total being. A total man is totally different. He is wise in his foolishness. And foolish in his wisdom. To know that he doesn’t know that he doesn’t know. If it is; it can’t be said, you have to live it. And by living it, it will be said. This knowledge comes not from learning, but from understanding the values and virtues of life.
So many words can be used; loving, hateful, kind, cruel, happy, sad, courageous, fearful, strong, weak, wise, foolish, angry, jovial, compassionate, fun, boring etc. All have meaning, but none is meaningful until you put an existential experience to it. Understanding this experience brings with it wisdom. Or is it foolishness? Totality is a way of life. It is not theoretical.
One comes before all. God. God is a poet, and His word is His poetry. You don’t argue with a poet; you listen to the poetry, you chew the poetry, you digest it, you absorb it, you let it move inside you, you let it become a part of blood and bones, you let become your essence. You forget the words, you forget the poetry completely but the fragrance becomes part of you. You may not remember what the poet was singing but the song has been retained; the flavour of it, the fragrance, and the significance has entered you. You have become pregnant. Life has meaning. You have attained enlightenment.
Enlightenment is a man whose fully aware of his inner emptiness and is not fighting it; rather, he enjoys it, and it is blissful. Through the enjoyment of his emptiness, he becomes available to others. Others can come and enjoy. Others can come and participate in his mystery. He invites friends, lovers and even enemies. And he is ready to give. When you give out of your emptiness, you are never afraid of giving. Because you can never exhaust the emptiness. You go on giving, you go on giving, you go on giving – it is always there – you cannot exhaust it. Only finite things can be exhausted, that’s why they create miserliness. You are afraid to give.
A man who feels he’s empty, why should he be afraid to give? He can give himself TOTALLY. And unless that is possible, love is not possible. Love is a holy phenomenon. Love is not profane. Every love worth the name is sacred. When you enter into love, you enter into a world of purity; innocence. When you love, you enter the temple of the divine. God is LOVE.
Greatest commandments: 1. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your soul. What more should be said? 2. You shall love your neighbour as you love yourself. You can choose your friends and enemies but you can’t choose your neighbour. Who’s your neighbour? Can you give a show and give them love?
An external love is not what am gone get but what am going to give. The common misconception is that we give those to whom we love, the answer; the real answer is we love those to whom we give. The point is if I give something to you, I have invested in you. And since self-love is a given, everybody loves themselves, now that of me has become in you, there’s part of you in me that I love.
True love is a love of GIVING, not a love of RECEIVING.
